Anusara Yoga®
Founded by master teacher John Friend in 1997, Anusara yoga is a powerful Hatha yoga system that unifies a philosophy of intrinsic Goodness with easy-to-understand Universal Principles of AlignmentTM. Students will receive clear instructions to make powerful changes to their physical and holistic well-being, leading each person into their own optimal alignment. Anusara yoga is an incredibly therapeutic, sophisticated, and athletic practice that cultivates confidence, empowerment and joy. For more information on Anusara and John Friend, go to www.anusara.com.

What’s Anusara-Inspired™ mean? Is my teacher certified or not? Yes, all of your teachers are at least 200 or 500 hour certified to teach yoga. Some of your teachers have additionally taken the plunge to specialize in a specific method of yoga. Anusara yoga has the some of the most rigorous certification standards of any yoga system in the world, so even if your teacher is already certified to teach yoga in the Anusara method, the specific Anusara certification process requires hundreds of hours of additional specialized training and takes many years to complete. Anusara-Inspired™ means that your teachers have already completed their requisite additional hours of structured teacher training in the Anusara method plus several years of teaching, and they have been observed, licensed and approved to represent Anusara as they move through the remainder of the advanced certification process.

Iyengar Yoga
Iyengar yoga focuses on distinct alignment principles designed to further the practice at any level. Practitioners become more physically aware and learn to cultivate healthy alignment both on the mat and in everyday movement.

Core Strength Vinyasa Yoga
Vinyasa yoga is an active, up-tempo method of yoga that links poses and breath together in a flowing style. In this class, you will still be guided through physical alignment as you engage core strength and move fluidly from pose to pose. An excellent cardiovascular workout, expect to huff and puff and be prepared to break a sweat before you dissolve into relaxation!

Hatha Yoga
Hatha yoga is not a specific style of yoga on its own, but rather an umbrella description of the variety of different asana (poses) and pranayama (breathing) techniques designed to heal, restore and nurture the body. All of your classes fall under the category of Hatha yoga. Any of your teachers who have a broad background of yoga styles or have not specialized in one specific style may call their classes Hatha yoga classes. A Hatha yoga class may incorporate aspects of many different styles of yoga. After the class you will feel relaxed, rejuvenated, aligned and energized.http://www.anusara.comshapeimage_13_link_0
Class Levels
Beginner
In this class you will be introduced to and guided through a wide range of yoga postures designed to open up the hips and shoulders and strengthen and open the large muscle groups. Plenty of alignment and breathing instructions will be offered. Learn to build awareness of the body and mind and explore the use of props to help deepen your practice. These classes are recommended for students new to yoga or looking to deepen their understanding of the fundamentals of yoga.

Open Level
In this class students are introduced to a broader range of yoga poses delving deeper into the alignment and our understanding of how the body works. You will deepen your knowledge of the principles of yoga alignment and how they can help build endurance, strength, stamina, flexibility, and energy. This class is a stepping-stone to all intermediate classes.

Intermediate
These classes are for those students who have been practicing yoga for at least 6 months and wish to refine their skills and deepen their understanding of yoga. We will explore more challenging asana (poses) and further refine our alignment and endurance in our old favorites. We regularly work on handstands and backbends. Check with your teacher if you are unsure about coming to these classes.

Advanced Practice
A consistent practice of yoga for at least 6 months is strongly recommended along with a strong practical understanding of Anusara yoga®’s Universal Principles of Alignment™. In order to ensure that this class is an empowering experience for both you and the rest of the students, please come to the advanced class only if you are able to kick up to handstand at the wall unassisted and perform a full backbend. We will refine our understanding of both the principles of alignment and the philosophy that informs our yoga. This class is conducted as a led practice, a great opportunity for you to practice with your teacher.
