Immersion and Teacher Training

Have you caught the yoga bug?  Do you want to learn more about yoga and gain fascinating insight and experience in your own practice?  Do you crave more time on your mat and more understanding about what happens there?  Have you ever thought about teaching yoga or just want to dive in a little deeper?  Here are a few ways you can satisfy your curiosity at BHY.

1. The Immersion

Immersion is your time to steep in learning everything you never knew about yoga! Nine long weekends exploring the detailed ins and outs of yoga philosophy, anatomy, alignment, methodology, literature, and mythology.  Immersion alone is not a certification program, however it is a pre-requisite to Teacher Training and makes up the first 108 of your 216 hours of the full certification program.  But Immersion isn't just for aspiring teachers; it's a fascinating standalone course to dive into a deeper understanding of yoga just for you. Choose three, six, or all nine weekends.

2. Teacher Training

Graduates of the Immersion who are interested in learning to teach yoga have the option to go forward into Teacher Training, which is another 108 hours of training over nine more long weekends.  This is where you learn how to skillfully weave all that you’ve learned in Immersion, plus much more that you’ll learn in Teacher Training, into a cohesive, effective yoga class.  Along with the Immersion, this completes the BHY 200(+) hour yoga teacher certification program.  Immersion is a pre-requisite to Teacher Training.  Details on all programs below:

The Immersion:

All you never knew about yoga!

108 hours of wildly curious study with Kessiah

The Immersion is for anyone who’s wildly curious and wants to fall even more madly in love with their yoga!  This is your time to sneak a peek behind the curtain and dig into all the fascinating underpinnings of the yoga tradition. From history to mythology to body mechanics to the everyday connections you'll start to make, your mind will be blown at how much there is to discover. Choose three, six, or all nine long weekends. You're welcome to decide as you go.

I never could have imagined how much this experience would change my life ...

Spend 108 hours (total for all 3 parts) over nine long weekends learning the history, methodology, anatomy, language, asana (poses), pranayama (breathing), meditation, mythology, and philosophy that combine to bring your beautiful yoga practice to life.  This program will take place over a series of long weekends (approximately one weekend per month).  We'll be together for several hours each day, so there will be tons of time for new, deep exploration, questions, experiments, group study, musings, and reiteration.  This was probably my favorite part of all of my yoga studies ... the chance to gobble up all I could learn in a close-knit group of fellow yoga lovers.

The Immersion is NOT a teacher certification program (although it is a prerequisite) so anyone who's curious is welcome to join, even if you never want to be a yoga teacher.  The Immersion is, however, a prerequisite for Teacher Training.  If you think you'd like to participate in the Bright Heart Yoga Teacher Training, the Immersion will be your first step and your first 108 hours of the full yoga teacher certification program at BHY.

Immersion is a pre-requisite to Teacher Training

If you have pre-registered for a training, we have reserved a space for you and sometimes have to deny other students entry.  We often divide into buddies and study groups, and we plan activities and order supplies based on the number of students who have registered.  Please be sure you are truly able to commit to the trainings you register for to avoid any disturbance to the course and to your other classmates.  Thanks for your understanding.
